Wyatt Mould

Excavator at Borden Excavating
(He/Him) · Los Angeles, California

Wyatt Mould studied to become a journeyman lineman at Northwest Lineman College (NLC) in Meridian, Idaho. Founded in 1993, NLC is a private vocational school that prepares students for careers in the power delivery industry. After completing his studies, he enrolled in the IBEW Mountain States Line Constructors Joint Apprenticeship and Training (MSLCAT) Program, which combines classroom learning with on-the-job experience. Through this program, he developed his skills in live-line work, system troubleshooting, and high-voltage maintenance while deepening his understanding of electrical theory and safety practices. For three years, he worked on power lines throughout Montana, Colorado, Utah, and Texas, traveling wherever his crew needed to restore power or expand the electrical grid. His fieldwork exposed him to various terrains and weather conditions, strengthening his adaptability, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities—essential skills in the electrical trade. At NLC, he completed a 15-week pre-apprentice program that merged classroom study with practical training. He learned about power delivery, electrical systems, voltage, and current while developing hands-on abilities such as pole climbing, conductor handling, splicing, and tool operation. Safety training was essential to his education, covering high-voltage awareness, fall protection, lock-out/tag-out procedures, and the proper use of personal protective equipment. As a lineman, he was responsible for building, maintaining, and repairing electrical power systems, including overhead and underground lines, poles, transformers, and switches. His work required focus, physical endurance, and precision, often performed under challenging conditions such as storms or high elevations. He has worked as an excavator with Borden Excavating in St. Calimesa, California, for over three years. He installs new water mains and services customer meter boxes in this role. During this period, he also completed a two-year construction laborer apprenticeship through AGC in Riverside, California, gaining experience in trenching, grading, pipe installation, and operating heavy machinery. He volunteers at Carol’s Kitchen in Riverside, California, where he has given over 100 hours of service helping provide meals for people experiencing homelessness. Guided by his Christian faith and strong family values, he enjoys golf, motorcycle rides, camping, pool, skateboarding, and staying active—qualities that reflect Wyatt Mould's dedication and integrity.
