Who is the “Urban integration working group” We are a not for profit developer passionate about the future development of sustainable urban environments. We are bringing a team of professionals together from design, construction and finance/investment industries to construct the proposed developments. What are our objectives? To find appropriate sites of over 1500 m² in the inner suburbs of Sydney and design developments that have minimum impact environmentally during construction and during their life to the extent of being zero carbon developments. Beyond the development design other core values are to be: • A place where people want to live that is safe, clean and walkable to all amenities • A place that reduces the urban sprawl of our cities. That will consolidate and increase urban density without all the down sides of high density living. • A place that allows easier access to all other urban hubs by public transport. • A place that has strong community connections, that enables people to take ownership and pride in their urban environment and city as whole. Other desirable features of a proposed development would be: • Access to places of business and employment • A total recycling system so that no waste goes to landfill. • An urban farm for the supply of food that is grown and sold locally • Access to affordable housing in our cities • The development of new opportunities of business and employment that is required during construction and throughout its life. Examples would be on-site service and management of energy systems, water capture and recycling , heating and cooling systems, recycling of all material that leave the site, community hub and a place that creates opportunities for education . What are the outcomes? To create a development that is resilient and integrated with surrounding community and demonstrates an alternative to current development that can set a standard for the future. To demonstrate the development’s benefits to the surrounding community. This will help remove the fear that many have when change is thrust upon them and allow the community to take ownership. To create a resilient community that will be adaptable to a future with uncertain consequences.
