Christina Gagliano recently sent her first novel to a few agents and is becoming used to the sound of crickets. Undaunted, she's forging ahead with her second novel, which takes place in 1857, and she's working on a couple of short stories. Christina graduated from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism back in the Stone Ages (also known as "the 80s"), and double majored in Russian language and literature. Fortunately, before she accepted a job with a certain government agency that was interested in her Russian language skills, Christina realized that rule following was not her strong suit so she pursued a career in writing, marketing, and public relations. Christina worked as a successful freelancer from 2001-2013, when she started writing grants, doing more community volunteer work, and, finally, proving to herself that she could sit down and write a damn novel! Christina is an avid reader (Amor Towles and Maggie Shipstead are two favorite contemporary writers), history buff (the antebellum and Civil War eras? Yes, please), and cat lover (although 4 cats is pushing the envelope). Though not a big TV or movie watcher, Christina loves The Morning Show and Ted Lasso--and don't even try to tell her there's a better movie than The Shawshank Redemption.
