Kris

Canada

Currently based in Toronto, Kris Palmieri can be identified as a New York City Native by both birth and temperament. Kris has been fortunate enough to pursue the first of her two great loves, history, academically. She received her Masters in Modern British and European History from the University of Oxford in July 2013 and previously completed her BA in History at New York University in December 2011, where she also also developed a deep appreciation of Anthropology. Kris has also been able to pursue the second of her great loves, travel, extensively and has backpacked solo across six continents since she first ventured to India in 2007. Most recently, in the interim between her two degrees, she spent seven months travelling in Australia, New Zealand, and Africa. In the latter of these locales she spent four months travelling overland from South Africa to Ethiopia relying on nothing but public transportation and the kindness of strangers. Tales of Kris' adventures and misadventures have intermittently been posted, in remedial and vulgar English, on her blog "It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time." She is also in the process of launching a "Neglected Pasts, Uncommon Paths" Blog in tandem with an official Neglected Pasts page, both of which aim to provide history focused travel guides for a variety of cities and sites worldwide.
