Jonathan Arenburg
Jonathan Arenburg is an author, speaker, and trained counsellor whose work explores the neuroscience of depression, anxiety, and PTSD through both lived experience and professional insight. A retired firefighter with 15 years of service and a former Residential Rehabilitation Worker with 18 years at the Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre, Jonathan has dedicated his career to supporting individuals with mental illness, trauma, and cognitive disabilities. His own struggle with PTSD, anxiety, and depression has shaped not only his personal journey but also his mission as a writer and advocate. His first book, The Road To Mental Wellness (released on World Mental Health Day in 2021), chronicles his healing journey and has resonated widely with readers. He later contributed to Lemonade Stand Volume III, sharing his experience alongside other emergency and military professionals living with PTSD. His second book, Wired to Be Human, builds on this foundation, examining how our evolved biology clashes with the demands of modern life — and what that means for mental health today. Beyond writing, Jonathan is the creator of The Road to Mental Wellness blog and frequently appears on podcasts and at speaking events. Through his platform and advocacy work, he aims to make mental health conversations meaningful, accurate, and empowering, offering a unique perspective shaped by both lived experience and decades of front-line service.
