Since early 2020, George Drazenovic has been a faculty member at University Canada West (UCW) in Vancouver, BC, where he has taught courses in accounting, finance, entrepreneurship, and corporate strategy. He also served as Chair of Undergraduate Programs for nearly four years. Before transitioning to academia, he held leadership positions in the private sector, directing several ventures in the junior public markets. His professional strengths include HR management, recruiting, business development, industry engagement, financial reporting, capital budgeting, strategic planning, capital markets, regulatory compliance, and investment valuation. He began his academic journey as an instructor in the MBA program and later advanced to Associate Professor. In 2021, he assumed the role of Chair, reporting directly to the VP of Academics. By the end of 2024, student enrollment and faculty numbers had increased by more than tenfold under his leadership. His responsibilities included academic strategy, curriculum development, governance, budget oversight, compliance, and the development of industry partnerships. He was responsible for three undergraduate programs: the Associate of Arts, the Bachelor of Commerce (ACBSP-accredited), and the Bachelor of Arts in Business Communications, serving over 5,500 students and involving more than 200 faculty members. He served as a voting member of key committees, including the Senate, Curriculum, Governance and Standards, Quality Assurance, Admissions Appeals, and Undergraduate Program Working Committees. He completed the consent renewal process for all programs and played a significant role in course design and redevelopment. He introduced new leadership roles and academic structures that enhanced faculty support and student outcomes. He led the alignment of the accounting curriculum with the CPA Western School of Business and launched certification-aligned and technology-integrated courses. His work also included curriculum modernization, scheduling improvements, and the transition to a new learning management system. He supported DEI initiatives, mentored faculty, organized events such as Pitch Night, and strengthened employer engagement through targeted academic initiatives. Before UCW, he served as CFO, CEO, and Director for several public companies, leading mining exploration projects and securing funding for pharmaceutical development and early-stage clinical research. George Drazenovic continues to bring clarity, leadership, and practical experience to education, research, and industry initiatives.
