Danny Cox

Danny Cox, The PRospective Employee, is an up-and-coming Public Relations professional, hailing from Ohio University's reputable E.W. Scripps School of Journalism in Athens, Ohio. With a background in writing for television and film, Danny's true passion and focus comes from utilizing social media tools to help connect with others. Whether it's using Facebook to generate awareness for an original Atom.com cartoon series, to spread awareness to drive attendance and ticket sales to a movie premiere, or Twitter to connect with journalists and generate potential employer leads, Danny has made his passion learning the nuances of Web 2.0's tools. Of the Solis school of thought, Danny is not interested in creating one-size-fits-all messages to be mass distributed, but rather building one-on-one relationships and participating actively in the discussion of the intended communities. In his time at Ohio University, Danny has carved out an impressive PR career outside the traditional channels. Serving as a social media marketing and communications director for a start-up Web site; heading the media relations efforts for OU's first feature-length film to be produced by undergraduates in a course, based on best-selling author Russell Banks' book Trailerpark; spear-heading a social media awareness campaign for Benny: Escaped Convict, an Atom.com original series; interviewing Ohio's biggest politicians at the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver, CO for a student-produced documentary; spending a year as head writer on a half-hour, live-to-tape sketch-comedy TV show; and playing guitar and singing for a three piece electro-acoustic dance pop band are a few of the ways he has spent the past three years. Danny is hoping to translate his experience into a rewarding position at a major PR Agency in Chicago, IL upon graduation, but is open to other options.
