Anthony Qi was born in Buffalo, NY, but grew up in Houston in a household that emphasized education and exploration. From an early age, he developed a curiosity for the world around him, which carried into his academic life. After high school, he earned admission to the Business Honors Program at the University of Texas at Austin, one of the most competitive undergraduate business programs in the nation, where he pursued both finance and language studies. At UT Austin, Anthony majored in Finance and minored in Spanish, graduating in 2018 with a strong academic record, including a major GPA of 3.5/4.0. His major refined his analytical thinking, while the honors curriculum challenged him with complex case studies and collaborative projects. In 2015, he spent a semester at Universidad de San Andrés in Buenos Aires, studying program management while gaining immersive Spanish fluency, blending cultural learning with academic growth. Anthony’s early professional path was rooted in investment and analysis. He held internships at Goshawk Global Investments, Nine Ten Capital Management, and Intertek in Shanghai, which strengthened his ability to evaluate opportunities across industries and regions. He later joined Highside Global Management, a $250 million hedge fund, where he sourced investment ideas and managed sector coverage across advertising, logistics, and technology, bringing discipline, risk awareness, and evidence-based decision-making to his role. Over nearly four years at Highside, Anthony expanded into semiconductors, software, and packaging, systematizing how alternative data informed earnings forecasts. He built statistical models that provided clearer outcome ranges, improving forecast accuracy and risk control. Later, he transitioned from Finance to software product development, becoming the first employee at a startup that built research tools for hedge funds and investigative journalists. Here, he shaped features, developed datasets, and worked directly with clients. Anthony’s work blended technical and strategic thinking—he built tools for regulatory tracking, contributed to UI/UX design, and contextualized product delivery in broader industry frameworks. Fluent in Spanish and conversational in Chinese, he navigates diverse teams and markets. He is comfortable with Bloomberg and Capital IQ, applying Python and TypeScript to streamline workflows, improve diligence, and enhance conviction during analysis. Outside work, Anthony Qi balances intellectual and physical pursuits. He invests actively, explores prediction markets, and participates in communities like Good Judgment Open. For recreation, he plays tennis, lifts weights, and enjoys climbing, as well as games with social progression such as Runescape, Elden Ring: Nightreign, and Peak, finding discipline, persistence, and strategy at the core of both his personal and professional life.
